Song Circle: Community Singing for Everyone
March 17, 2012 @ 10:00 AM - Noon

Here’s a
sing-along session just for the fun of singing with other voices. We'll draw songs from a deep bag of musical styles: folk, old-time, traditional ballads, chants, classic country, gospel, blues and pop, and we’ll even sing in several different languages.

Song Circle: Same Songs, Different Sounds
March 24, 2012 @ 10:00 AM - Noon

We'll learn and compare English and French versions of the same traditional ballads. The words and melodies of the ballads might be different, but the story is the same and the songs are beautiful in either language.

Song Circle: Favorite Jam Songs with special guest Joel Breaux
March 31, 2012 @ 10:00 AM - Noon

We’ll
learn to sing some all-time favorite Cajun jam songs. Many jammers know how to play these songs, but may have never learned the words to them. Popular jam leader Joel Breaux, with his classic Cajun tenor voice, will teach you so you can sing along at your next jam session.

Lyrics for all sessions will be provided. Singing is call and response, in unison and with harmonies. These workshops are for all levels of singing experience, including those who were told never to sing! Song Circles are supported in part by a Decentralized Arts Funding grant.
