Artist Bios:Rebecca Henry

  

Rebecca Henry works to promote the rich culture and heritage of Creoles of Southwest Louisiana and to uplift underprivileged children educationally, socially and artistically. She has founded Creole Heritage (a non-profit organization), the annual Junteenth Folklife Celebration, the annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration/Parade and Creole Traditions. She is a member of the Louisiana Folklore Society and is on the State Artist Roster. Rebecca has also been accepted on to the Louisiana State Crafts Marketing Program. She has worked with special education students and with children from kindergarten to twelfth grade, presenting cultural awareness programs in schools and in summer enrichment programs. Rebecca has worked with the Creole Summer Cultural Enrichment Programs, Sharecroppers Day/Creole Wedding and the Creole Heritage Folklife Center. She has also received many honors and awards for her cultural activities and has been a featured guest on numerous television shows.
