Artist Bios:Ashleigh D'Aunoy
Ashleigh D’Aunoy, co-founder and Artistic Director of Tamizey Drum and Dance Company, received her MM in flute performance, BA in music and BA in anthropology from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, formerly University of Southwestern Louisiana. She has been active as a performer and teacher of West African drumming and dance since 1995, having studied with both traditional and professional musicians and dancers in the Central, Eastern and Volta regions of Ghana, West Africa, as well as here in the United States. In addition to working as a Bright New Worlds artist, Ashleigh is also involved in teaching through the arts in a variety of capacities, including: visual arts, music and dance in PACE, an artist-in-residency program; educational performances with Tamizey; African music and dance residencies; and Suzuki flute lessons.Send this Page to a Friend!
