Location:
Acadiana Center for the Arts

It is with great pleasure that the Acadiana Center for the Arts (AcA) has been awarded a National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) grant to produce the Art I-10 exhibition. This showcase celebrates artists living and working along the I-10 highway of which, Lafayette, LA is at the heart of. Art I-10 looks at the viability of living and working in a variety of communities along this highway. Art I-10 explores identity, a sense of place, and offers a glimpse into our global future of this increasingly smaller world we now inhabit.

In conjunction with Art I-10, the Acadiana Center for the Arts will host an exhibition highlighting artist living and working along the I-10 corridor from October 14, 2017 – March 10, 2018. This exhibition will also run in tandem with Prospect 4, New Orleans. January 25, 2018 at 6 p.m. the AcA will host the Art I-10 Artist Talk. Four Art I-10 artists: Brandon Ballengée, Lafayette, LA; J. Chalet Comellas, Tallahassee, FL; Samuel Reveles, El Paso, TX; and Chris Sauter, San Antonio, TX are our guest speakers. Each artist will give insight into their work, as well as, how their works relate to our ever shrinking global community. The individual talks will be followed by a panel discussion that explores art making, sustainability as an artist, and networking in a variety of communities along the I-10 highway corridor. Please join us for this fascinating evening that is also free and open to the public.
