Primary Academic Creative Experiences (PACE)

Primary Academic Creative Experiences (PACE) assists schools in establishing instruction that richly integrates the arts through the collaborative efforts of teaching artists, educators and the community. PACE is an artists-in-residence program that partners artists with teachers to bring innovative learning experiences to students by coordinating arts activities with classroom units or lessons. PACE is an innovative program that works through artist-teacher teams to better educate primary school students. Local artists work with kindergarten through third grade students on a regular basis, connecting basic curricular subjects such as math, social studies, science and language arts with visual and performing arts. The goal of PACE is to foster the cognitive, motor, social-emotional and language development of young children through meaningful opportunities in the arts. PACE artists work closely with classroom teachers to develop activities that support and coordinate with the teachers' lesson plans. PACE is a federally funded program and is only available to eligible Title I elementary schools in Lafayette Parish.
