Borderlands are always special places, where residents
conversant in more than one culture very often create something new and
powerful.
Join us as we explore the frontier between borders.
Accordions and cultures will collide and combine at these first-ever
performances showcasing virtuosic bandleaders from borderlands on both sides of
the Sabine River.
Songwriter, accordionist, guitarist and vocalist Roddie
Romero has been recording since his teens. His first release in 1990 led the
All Music Guide to peg him as "definitely one to watch."
In the other corner, Joel Guzman is a Tex-Mex virtuoso and
former child prodigy dubbed "el pequeño gigante," or the little giant. He's
worked with a long list of musical greats, and first jammed with Romero et al
on the 2009 "Cayamo: A Journey Through Song" musical cruise.
The All-Star's latest release, "The La Louisianne Sessions,"
was a Grammy nominee widely lauded as a tour de force effort bridging Cajun,
zydeco and original Gulf Coast rock styles. Make plans now to join these
artists as they join forces to break new, fertile musical ground.
